Agreement to Terms of Use
Upon request for legal aid, the Board shall assign a lawyer or lawyers to meet with the prospective adoptee and ascertain his or her factual account.
Thereafter, the Lawyer assigned to the case shall carry out the requisite investigations with a view to obtaining a corroboration of statements made by the adoptee after which he shall put together a report and tender it to the Board for deliberation.
Thereupon, the Board shall examine the merits of the case and decide to adopt or reject the case.
Where the Board moves to adopt such case, a Lawyer or Lawyers shall be appointed for the purpose of representing auch adoptee in court.
In the event of attaining freedom as a result of the representation in court, the Board shall, where it deems fit furnish the adoptee with items or financial assistance where applicable, in order to aid his rehabilitation and reintegration into the Nigerian society.
The adoptee must on his part, make sure that all his statements as regarding the case are veritable and must ensure maximum cooperation with The Themis Foundation throughout the period spanning from the adoptee’s interview to the period after the court gives final judgement.
The adoptee shall, where required, make himself available for rehabilitation programs which shall me organised from time to time by the Foundation.
